Anyone who fondly remembers leaning into a Virtua Racing cabinet on a school trip will recognise the exact tonal frequency that 3goo K.K. and Vision Reelle are aiming for with 4PGP, a 90s arcade-style F1 throwback that landed on Steam in June with a Mostly Positive reception and an explicit appetite for couch multiplayer. The pitch is straight from the era: 19 formula cars modelled on the real things, 14 circuits drawn from around the world (each playable in reverse), four difficulty tiers from Rookie to Expert, an actual assist mode for newcomers, and four-player split-screen as the headline feature in a year where almost nobody else is shipping it. Championship, Quick Race, and Time Attack carry the singleplayer side, Remote Play Together lets distant friends crash into the same race, and a smooth 4K/60 framebuffer gives the throwback look modern teeth. It is the kind of unfussy arcade racer the genre has been quietly missing since Hotshot Racing and Horizon Chase Turbo last waved the flag, and at twenty bucks with a ten percent intro discount, it knows exactly which corner of the shelf it belongs on.
