Anyone who has ever wondered whether Rock Paper Scissors has enough depth to power an entire roguelite deckbuilder can now have their curiosity settled by 58BLADES and Human Qube Games’ Handmancers, which entered Early Access in May 2026 and has been sitting at Very Positive since. The premise is charmingly literal: you play in first person as a duelist throwing Signs, cards attached to those Signs modify how each gesture behaves, and pushing a hand into “nuke” territory brings on cramps that quietly reduce your options until you recover, a physical fatigue system dressed as a metaphor for overplaying a strong hand. Pick a faction (Rock plays defensive, Scissors goes for damage, Paper stacks buffs), draft artifacts, and choose whether to reach into Corruption, an unbeatable fourth element that hands you enormous rewards while twisting the map into something considerably less fair. Praise from Retromation and Olexa on the deckbuilder-streamer circuit is a legitimate endorsement, sensible bundles with Heretic’s Fork, Megaloot, and Dino Path Trail help build the Balatro-adjacent shelf, and 50 achievements plus a six-month Early Access roadmap give obsessives plenty to chew on. For a deckbuilder built on the simplest possible core mechanic, Handmancers has an impressive amount of strategic weight, a genuine curiosity worth pulling into your next weekend.
