Duskfade: The Jak and Daxter Successor We’ve Waited 20 Years For (Gameplay)

Hello friends. This is a Let’s Play video of “Duskfade”. Shatter the shackles of time as you jump, swing, and slash through a fantastic world in this love letter to classic 3D action platformers. Zirian, accompanied by his mechanical Cuckoo, must save his sister from a mysterious Clock Tower that has plunged the land into eternal night.

Anyone who spent 2001 with a PS2 controller welded to their hands, guiding Jak across Sandover Village with Daxter yapping on their shoulder, is going to feel something specific when Duskfade’s opening minutes roll. From Spanish studio Weird Beluga and published by Fireshine Games, this is an unapologetic love letter to the golden age of 3D action platformers, released August 13, 2026 and already sitting at Very Positive with 90% of 664 reviews. GameSpot called it the spiritual successor to Jak and Daxter that fans have been waiting years for, which is a hell of a thing to have on your store page. You play Zirian, accompanied by a mechanical Cuckoo companion, trying to save his sister from Despair itself and the mysterious Clock Tower that has plunged the land into eternal night. The moveset is the good stuff: jump, dash, grapple, glide, and slash through ethereal forests, underwater realms, sunlit dunes, and cloudy heights built by the Master Clockmakers, with bosses that embody emotional hurdles rather than just health bars. Coming-of-age storytelling with real weight, 25 achievements, nine languages, Steam Deck compatible, and a soundtrack DLC for anyone who wants the tunes on the commute. This is the 3D platformer revival delivering exactly what it promised, and thirty bucks well spent.
