Sova: Hades Meets Disco Elysium in a New Weird Apocalypse (Playtest Gameplay)

Hello friends. This is a Let’s Play video of “Sova” playtest version. Descend into a surreal sci-fantasy world in this narrative-driven action roguelite, where every run reshapes your story. Sova’s expressive combat meets deeply branching dialogue and world-shifting decisions. Compose your violence, rewrite your past, and bend a crumbling realm to your will.

Somewhere between Hades’ run-shaped storytelling and Disco Elysium’s unhinged conversational freedom sits Sova, a narrative-driven action roguelike from small studio Entropic Island, co-funded by the Creative Europe MEDIA programme and pencilled in for 2027. You play the titular Sova, moving through the Conjecture, an ever-shifting sci-fantasy apocalypse built from New Weird fiction, Eastern European myth, and hand-crafted pixel art, searching for the Constant so you can rewrite your own past and everyone else’s future. The combat is fast, deliberate, and build-driven, but the real ambition is on the dialogue side: walk away from conversations mid-sentence, interrupt characters, or simply punch them in the face, and watch those choices propagate into quests, environments, and combat encounters, with enemies remembering you and grudges hardening into personal rivalries across runs. Explore a dying megacity, flowing wastelands, and industrial hellscapes of metal and flesh, unlock hidden routes, and impose “laws” onto the world that persist into future attempts. A playtest is already accepting requests. For anyone who has wanted a roguelike where the CRPG half is taken as seriously as the combat, this is one of the most quietly ambitious things on the 2027 calendar.

  1. Hades-style run storytelling mixed with Disco Elysium’s conversational freedom is a very ambitious combo for a small studio like Entropic Island, and a playtest video is a good way to see whether the branching dialogue actually changes the runs. I run Voxalike, a guide site for a browser dubbing party game, so heavily dialogue-driven games like this always catch my attention.
