The Game Awards 2021 – what we’re looking forward to.

And it’s a wrap!

The Game Awards 2021 is now history and the big 2021’s winner is “It Takes Two” – what a welcome win for creativity! Among the other winners and nominees as always, we had a slew of world premieres to be amazed by!

And here’s Overage-Gaming’s list of games we look forward to:

Tunic

After more than 6 years of development, the isometric Zelda-like indie adventure game Tunic has a release date! This game is going to be released on the 16th of March 2022, and you get to play as a cute little fox holding a sword and a shield in a land filled with lost legends, ancient powers, and ferocious monsters. The game looks wonderful, and while it heavily leans on exploration there’s plenty of action to be had. Tunic will arrive for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S from Andrew Shouldice.

Have a Nice Death

Have a Nice Death is a hand-drawn 2D action side-scrolling rogue-lite where you play as…Death! Your employees have run rampant, completely throwing off the balance of souls – and your vacation plans, so to restore order, you’ll have to grab your trusty scythe and show your employees who’s boss! This looks like a great side-scrolling game with a nice twist – reminds me of Hollow Knight visually and that’s a good thing! Have a Nice Death will arrive March 2022 on PC from developer Magic Design Studios.

Planet of Lana

Planet of Lana, a cinematic puzzle adventure game looked brilliant and exciting (if rather cryptic) on its trailer. Story-wise the game’s heroine and her loyal friend embark on a rescue mission through a colorful but dangerous world full of cold machines (Horizon Zero Dawn 2D is that you?). It is released in 2022 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S from developer Wishfully.

Somerville

There’s not much info on what exactly Somerville is yet, but it looks like a narrative platform game in a dystopian post-apocalyptic world. The teaser trailer looked awesome, and I can’t wait to explore this further! Jumpship is looking to release this in 2022.

Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course DLC

What can we say about Cuphead that’s not already being said – one of 2017’s greatest hits and still a staple run’n’gun action game stylized after 1930’s cartoons! Here’s its long-awaited DLC (since 2018!) coming with new levels, bosses, and a new playable character – consider yourself warned, this is going to break many game controllers again! Looking forward to this on June 30, 2022 coming from StudioMDHR.

Dune: Spice Wars

This was a great surprise for me. Played through Westwood’s Dune and Dune 2 in the 90s so naturally was so excited when I saw this getting a modern release. A true real-time strategy game, developed by Shiro Games (of Northgard’s fame) set in Frank Herbert’s Dune universe is looking set to be a winner! The release date is in 2022 and I cannot wait to fight over spice in this!
